ITU will continue to support launching of Public Internet Access Points in RM

The pilot project on launching 20 broadband public access points to Internet in rural areas of the Republic of Moldova is considered by international and local experts a successful one. 

It shall be continued until all the population from all over the country will be granted with access to web space. These statements have been made today during the visit of Mr. Hamadoun Touré, Secretary General of ITU (International Telecommunication Union), and Mr. Alexandru Oleinic, Minister of Information Technologies and Communication, in village Lozova, where the guests were shown one of the broadband public access points to Internet.

“MITC project is considered by ITU experts a successful one. It is impressive that population from 20 villages across the country have got access to broadband Internet within a small period of time. Today, we have witnessed a growing interest of the rural population towards new technologies, especially towards Internet. We will continue to support the launching of new broadband access points, including via financial contributions”, Mr. Hamadoun I. Touré declared.
