Income generated by Moldovan IT companies accounts for 10% of the GDP

Moldovan IT companies recorded revenues of almost ten percent of the country's GDP, said Minister of Information Technologies and  Communication, Mr. Alexandru Oleinic.

According to him, in Moldova there are about 1500 active IT companies. The Minister also claims that the Government intends to develop information technologies to become a priority sector for our country.

1500 IT companies in Moldova have about 13,000 employees and the average salary is over six thousand lei.

In the European Union, the IT market share is about five percent of GDP, in the U.S. and Japan - about 6.5%, while in Taiwan - 10.6 percent.
